With the introduction of the HTML5 audio and video elements, we are no longer tied to plugins for delivering rich media … to an extent.

There are many nuances and caveats to working with HTML5 media. For example, while most current browsers have support for the HTML5 media elements, there is a large percentage of the browsers in use that are better served by a plugin. And if that isn't enough, you have to supply different media types for different browsers.

About Our Presenter

Jason is a freelance web designer and developer (a designeloper) specializing in streaming media and interactive learning objects. He began his career working with the US Army as a multimedia illustrator, where he developed interactive media and educational software.

In the ten years since then, he has worn many different designeloper hats, but his main interest still lies in educating through technology and the use of rich media. He's also a firm believer in knowledge sharing, which is why he's been an active member of the New Mexico Adobe User Groups for many years and currently co-manages Webuquerque.
